A medical emergency in the dental office is an unexpected event. Dentists should be familiar with the prevention, diagnosis, and management of common emergencies and train their staff so that each person knows what to do and can act promptly. Dr. McKenna will discuss measures to prepare the dental office for a medical emergency. Management of specific medical emergencies will be reviewed.

This meeting is offered both in-person and virtually! Virtual meetings can be watched via livestream or watched later, but must be watched within 5 business days with a quiz completed to receive CE credit.

Sam McKenna, D.D.S., M.D. completed his medical degree and residency at Vanderbilt after earning his D.D.S. at UCLA. He has served Vanderbilt as a faculty member, former director of the Oral Surgery Residency, and as professor and chair of the department. He has a hospital-based practice that encompasses the full-scope of clinical practice including dentoalveolar surgery, management of maxillofacial trauma, orthognathic surgery, and management of oral and maxillofacial pathology, cleft deformities, and all facets of oral and maxillofacial reconstruction.
